Homemade Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

This is a recipe that I came up with one day for some quick oatmeal, but with my own twist since I had some fresh apples on hand. I'm not one for measuring so use however much you like. If you're not sure, start small and add a little of each thing as you go. It's a great way to learn and explore more on your own!

Ingredients

  • Old fashioned oats
  • Apples (Chopped)
  • Berries (I used frozen mixed berries)
  • Yogurt (I used vanilla Greek yogurt)
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Water (optional, if you want it thinner)
  • Brown sugar and white sugar
  • Powdered cinnamon

    Let's Get Cookin':

Cook the chopped apples in some butter 'til they're soft and a little brown.

Toast the oats 'til they smell good. Throw in some butter and let it melt in.

Pour in some milk (and water if you want). Cook 'til the oats plump up and soak up most of the liquid.

Add the cooked apples, berries, and a good sprinkle of cinnamon to the oats. Stir it all together.

Cook for another minute or two. Then, stir in the sugars to your taste.
Take it off the heat, let it sit a minute, and top with a spoonful of yogurt. Sprinkle on a little more cinnamon and add more butter if you like.

    Tips:
Easy and quick! Use more or less of whatever you want.
Get fancy with toppings. Nuts, honey, or other flavors of yogurt (even plain) would be tasty additions. You could even turn this mix into granola! Mexican cinnamon instead of regular powdered cinnamon would be a nice change in flavor too.
